Atlanta

You’ve already visited Atlanta, whether you realize it or not. If you’ve seen any of Marvel’s “Avengers” series, “The Hunger Games” or dozens of popular contemporary movies, they all filmed here. In addition to being home to well-known Fortune 500 companies and the “World’s Busiest Airport,” Atlanta is also known as “Y’allywood.” On any given day, you might be able to spot a favorite movie star enjoying a coffee at a local café, grabbing a bite at a local barbeque joint, or jogging the BeltLine. Though we can’t guarantee you’ll meet your favorite movie star, we can promise you will have fun and eat well.

For breakfast, locals love Ria’s Bluebird for the best buttermilk pancakes and other Southern faves. Bonus, the city’s oldest public park and final resting place of many its best-known residents is right across the street – Oakland Cemetery. Other breakfast/brunch faves include Sun In My Belly, Home Grown, Highland Bakery, West Egg Café, and Sublime Doughnuts.

After filling your belly, head downtown to Centennial Olympic Park. Within its environs, you can ride Skyview Atlanta and get some great views or visit CNN, the Georgia Aquarium, The National Center for Civil and Human Rights, World of Coca-Cola, or College Football Hall of Fame. Art lovers can take a quick Uber or cab from Centennial Olympic Park to the High Museum of Art in Midtown.

Whether you need to walk off a big breakfast or want a morning/evening jog, you can’t miss the Atlanta BeltLine. The walking/jogging/cycling trail winds throughout the city’s unique neighborhoods and connects some of its best parks, cafes, brewpubs, and gastronomic hotspots. It also crosses paths with Ponce City Market – the former Sears, Roebuck & Co. building that’s been gorgeously renovated into a community hub with an impressive food hall, shops, flats, and office space. Atop, The Roof at Ponce City Market offers carnival rides, mini-golf, restaurants/bars, and a sprawling terrace with beautiful views of the Atlanta skyline.

For lunch, try in-town faves: South City Kitchen,  Aviva by Kameel (owner Kameel Srouji might hug you or tell you he loves you – you want that!), Yeah! Burger, Antico Pizza Napoletana, or Le Colonial.  But if you visit the A+P Atlanta office, we’ll probably walk you to our beloved Bell Street Burritos or Tuk Tuk Thai Food Loft.

For the truly adventurous eaters, it won’t take much convincing to get one of us to hop in a car and take you to Buford Highway – Atlanta’s ethnic food and retail mecca. The eats are cheap and authentic, with particularly amazing Vietnamese, Chinese, and Mexican places. We love Pho Dai Loi 2, El Ray Del Taco (if you can find a parking spot!), Canton House (dim sum heaven!), and Northern China Eatery (you MUST get the soup dumplings!). Time permitting, duck into the most awesome grocery store you’ll ever see – Buford Highway Farmers Market.

For dinner, your options are endless. Pick a price-point and cuisine, and we have it. Want a nice steak and cocktail? Crack open your wallet and try Bones, Kevin Rathbun Steak, or Marcel. Is seafood your thing? Set sail for Atlanta Fish Market. Hankering for traditional Southern fare? Hit OK Café in Buckhead. Then there’s Brick Store Pub (best beer selection in town), The General Muir, Bacchanalia, Lazy Betty, The Optimist, Holeman and Finch Public House, Bettlecat, Gunshow, and Barcelona Wine Bar.
